This project is no longer delivered by Volunteering Matters, but we have kept this page as part of our archive to share learning and impact. If you are interested in discussing this work or exploring similar opportunities, please get in touch with our Partnerships team.

  • The project helps people who aren’t in education, training or employment, or face barriers, or would like a career change, to find volunteering opportunities to develop their skills, experience and confidence.
  • Placements last 2 or 3 months and we’ll support them and their placement provider throughout.
  • We’ll work with people to find a placement that suits their goals, interests and aspirations.

The Supported Volunteering Blaenau Gwent programme is designed for people living in Blaenau Gwent who aren’t in education/training or employment or face other barriers (such as people with additional learning needs or health problems). This is to find ways to develop their skills and gain valuable experience through local volunteering.

This could be volunteering on one of our Volunteering Matters projects in the Blaenau Gwent area, volunteering in a shop, helping in a community centre /garden. We can offer volunteering experience tailored to the individual.

We match volunteers with tailored 2–3-month placements within host community partners based on the goals and aspirations of volunteers. We work closely with host organisations to create ideal placements, considering the individuals’ current skill sets and motivations or even hobbies, to ensure development that will improve their social skills, confidence and employability prospects.

We can offer ongoing support throughout the placement, we cover travel and subsistence costs, and will work with you to make sure you’re getting what you need from your experience.
