Grandmentors is an award-winning intergenerational mentoring programme supporting care experienced young people and those facing significant life challenges. Operating across multiple locations in Scotland, the project connects young people aged 16–26 with trained volunteer mentors who offer guidance, stability and encouragement.
Our Grandmentors, aged 50+, draw on their personal and professional experience to build positive, trusting relationships. Together with the young person, they co-create a tailored support plan, focusing on goals such as improving wellbeing, developing independent living skills, and progressing in education, employment or training.
Through regular, consistent support, young people are listened to, heard and empowered. The programme helps them build confidence, resilience and practical skills, supporting them to navigate challenges and move towards a more stable and independent future.
