Education and community support have always been important to Christopher, having been a school governor in Bradford, Cornwall and Gloucestershire, and much of his voluntary work has focused on supporting people who are vulnerable or underserved, including being chairman of Victim Support Cornwall and as a trustee for the Cornwall Rural Community Council.

He has spent time in public service as a councillor at Carrick District Council and Cornwall Council. Whilst at Cornwall Council he chaired the children, families and education scrutiny committee and later was the cabinet member for economic development. He also served as a town councillor in Gloucestershire, including a period as chairman.

Christopher has enjoyed a varied career in general insurance, including a range of leadership roles. His experience spans a Lloyd’s of London syndicate, two national insurers and a regional mutual insurer. He has also supported learners studying for insurance qualifications and served as president of two regional insurance institutes.

He works part time in insurance education. He currently volunteers providing carer support, befriending and helping individuals get comfortable with digital equipment and technology for clients of Cotswold Friends, a charity where he is a trustee who leads responsibility for governance. His leisure time finds him tending to his allotment, sailing, or watching football and cricket.
