The Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme ( The London regions cover Central London and the South as far as Wiltshire, and East London and the South. RSVP projects are locally focused, aiming to improve health and wellbeing, reduce social isolation, address inequalities and improve people’s life in their communities.
- Befriending: Hackney Telephone Befriending, Hackney Book Club and Salisbury Transport and Befriending.
- Knitting Groups: Knitting groups aim to reduce social isolation while at the same time making a variety of knitted items for distribution to other community organisations. Groups include Tonbridge Knitting Circle and Salisbury Knit and Natter group
- School volunteers: Volunteers support children in a number of primary schools, principally in Lambeth, inaspects of learning such as reading, maths or other classwork, under the guidance ofthe school.
RSVP projects are led by volunteer Organisers. Volunteers are generally aged 50+ or retired. In general projects RSVP groups are self-funded through local fundraising and grants. Volunteering Matters provides insurance for RSVP groups and operational support including support towards the creation of new projects.
