Could you brighten someone’s day with a friendly smile or a listening ear? As an RSVP Hospital Volunteer, you’ll support patients, visitors and NHS staff across Forth Valley by creating a welcoming environment in busy hospital settings.

Whether you’re greeting people as they arrive, helping visitors find their way or running the book trolley service, your time can make a real difference to those who may be feeling anxious or alone.

You’ll receive training, support and the opportunity to volunteer alongside an experienced team, helping to improve the hospital experience while becoming part of a welcoming community of volunteers.

  • Provide a friendly welcoming face in an environment which can be quite stressful at times
  • Be prepare to chat with people if they want to do so
  • Become a member of the PVG scheme (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) 

  • Friendly and welcoming manner
  • Good people and communication skills
  • Respect for patient confidentiality
  • Ability to commit to a regular session  

As a volunteer, you will receive:

  • Opportunities to shadow more experienced volunteers before volunteering on your own
  • A short induction and introduction to the hospital
  • Volunteer badge and uniform
