For over twenty years, Volunteering Matters has been an integral part of the Suffolk community, helping to address a range of local issues. We work hand-in-hand with volunteers across Suffolk to make a tangible difference, both through immediate actions and fostering long-term change.
Our projects focus on social action and mentoring, offering support to people throughout the county. Through collaborations with local partners, we also helped Ipswich become the UK’s first “Town of Youth Social Action,” as part of the national #iwill movement.

Our projects include
Community Connectors works to better understand how people in Ipswich engage with physical activity. By listening to lived experiences in Belstead Hills, Gainsborough, and Whitton, we aim to shape more inclusive, accessible ways for communities to get active.
Not all young people have the support or skills needed to access higher education or employment. Equip Mentoring supports NEET young people with the guidance they need to unlock their potential and succeed in their chosen path.
Our RSVP network brings together senior volunteers across Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex, who knit and sew for charity. These dedicated groups make items for those in need, fostering community spirit and support.
This youth-led group empowers young people to shape the future of Ipswich, working with local stakeholders to ensure the youth voice is central to town decisions.
“Volunteering has changed my view on life. It’s all interconnected. It has expanded my way of thinking and introduced me to so many inspiring people with a shared goal of change.”
