Befriending

Our befriending services combat loneliness and isolation by providing friendship and support to people aged 50 and over, and young carers, helping them reconnect with their communities. Join us by volunteering, fundraising, or partnering to expand these vital services and build stronger, more connected communities.

Our past projects

Sometimes, projects come to a natural close—whether it’s because they’ve achieved their goals, funding has ended, or priorities have shifted. While these projects may no longer be active, their legacy of positive change continues to inspire us and the communities they’ve served.

Suffolk

For over twenty years, Volunteering Matters has been an integral part of the Suffolk community, helping to address a range of local issues (including Ipswich, Lowestoft).

Place-based volunteering

We work across the country building stronger communities through the power of volunteering. Here you can find out more about some of the communities that we are working in and the impact it is making.

My Volunteering Story, Colin

Hear from Colin, who has volunteered with our RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme) for around thirty years. Colin shared some very special memories of his time volunteering with us, including meeting the late Queen Elizabeth II.
