Bloom

Bloom in Nuneaton, aims to help women feel less isolated and promote health, well-being, and community connection for those unfamiliar with the UK system, including housing, education, health, and law.

Bloom is a volunteer-led coffee morning in Nuneaton for Syrian or Arabic-speaking women set up by volunteer, Nahed, with support from Volunteering Matters.

Bloom aims to help women feel less isolated and promote health, well-being, and community connection for those unfamiliar with the UK system, including housing, education, health, and law. These processes can be challenging to engage with without help and support.

The group not only provides peer support by sharing their experiences but also gives feedback to public sector agencies. The group’s feedback has helped to change systems for others and improve policies and processes to be more inclusive and effective.

Hear from Nahed

Nahed, a volunteer who fled the war in Syria, arrived in England in June 2018 and two months later began volunteering with Volunteering Matters as a Volunteer Health Champion. Nahed’s goal was to promote connectedness with people unfamiliar with the UK system so, with our help, she established Bloom Coffee Morning.

Would you like to help Bloom succeed?

Our volunteering projects thrive with consistent, long-term funding. Short-term funding causes anxiety and hinders positive impact. Long-term support allows our volunteers to focus on community needs and plan for the future. If you want to help Bloom make a difference, please consider making a donation here. Every little bit helps!
