The Supported Volunteering Blaenau Gwent programme is designed for people living in Blaenau Gwent who aren’t in education/training or employment or face other barriers (such as people with additional learning needs or health problems), to find ways to develop their skills and gain valuable experience through local volunteering.
This could be volunteering on one of our Volunteering Matters projects in the Blaenau Gwent area, volunteering in a shop, helping in a community centre. We can offer volunteering experience tailored for you.
We can offer ongoing support throughout the placement, we cover travel and subsistence costs, and will work with you to make sure you’re getting what you need from your experience.
We will match volunteers with tailored 2–3-month placements within host community partners based on the goals and aspirations of volunteers. We will work closely with host organisations to create ideal placements, considering the individuals’ current skill sets and motivations or even hobbies, to ensure development that will improve their social skills, confidence and employability prospects.
We can look at a range of roles to find something to suit everybody – such as retail, admin support, assisting learning in schools or even caretaking of a Community Centre.
You’ll need to be reliable, responsible, committed, and willing to adhere to our policies around health and safety, confidentiality, safeguarding, data protection and lone working.
You’ll need to have regular contact with your Engagement Manager, informing them of any concerns and keeping them up to date on your progress.
Depending on the placement, you may need to get a DBS check in place – we’ll cover the cost of this.
