Message from Amanda Naylor, CEO

This is a hugely exciting moment for Volunteering Matters. We’ve just launched our new five-year strategy, setting out how we will build stronger, fairer communities through the power of volunteering. Rooted in mutuality and community leadership, our strategy is about turning local energy into lasting national impact.

We are rebuilding after some financially challenging years, but we are immensely proud of the work we do and the difference we make every day. Our impact is clear. Volunteering transforms lives, strengthens communities and creates the conditions for a fairer society.

At the heart of our strategy are clear priorities around equity, inclusion and community power. We are committed to ensuring volunteering is accessible to all and a genuine driver of social change. We know volunteering can transform lives, and we are determined to make that transformation felt in every town and city where we work.

As a trustee, you will be joining us at a pivotal point. This is a time of momentum, ambition and renewal. You will help steer a national charity through its next chapter, shaping how we grow, deepening our influence and ensuring volunteering remains at the centre of a stronger civil society.

Message from Peta Foxall CBE, Chair of Volunteering Matters

I’ve been a volunteer for as long as I can remember. From helping at local events to supporting charitable causes, volunteering has always brought joy, connection and purpose into my life. Some opportunities came by chance, others by design. All have brought reciprocal benefits.

Trusteeship has been an important part of that journey. I first became a trustee 15 years ago, curious about the role and eager to learn. What I discovered is that trusteeship is a collective endeavour, driven by shared purpose and built on trust, inclusion and a willingness to learn from and with each other. When the culture is positive and supportive, it is time well spent. You really can make a difference.

That is what I love about Volunteering Matters. It is a charity rooted in people, place and partnership. It champions the power of volunteering, spans generations and communities, and knows that volunteering really does matter if everyone is to thrive.
