We know the past few weeks have been particularly unsettling for communities across the UK. These events have profoundly impacted us all, highlighting the urgent need for unity and collective action.

Volunteering Matters is dedicated to supporting communities from all cultural backgrounds, and we are deeply saddened by the recent racist incidents targeting members of our society. Racism and hatred have no place in our communities, and it’s important to stand up and oppose these acts. We urge those affected by these events to seek support from local agencies and community organisations. If you feel targeted or threatened, please do not hesitate to contact your local police station for assistance.

Despite the turmoil, it was heartening to witness the positive responses from communities, where many came together to stand against fascism and racism. These acts of solidarity reaffirm our commitment to inclusiveness and compassion, values that drive everything we do at Volunteering Matters.

From our work across England, Wales, and Scotland, we know we are not alone in striving to create supportive and safe communities. Our projects bring together individuals with diverse identities to create a better and fairer society for all. We are proud of our volunteers who continue to do this in the face of opposition from those who seek to divide us.

As we move forward, we want to hear from our volunteers about how we can better support you. Your safety and security are our top priorities, and we are committed to working closely with communities to identify ways we can make a positive contribution.

We encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas on how we can continue to build stronger, more inclusive communities. Together, we can make a lasting impact and create a brighter future for all.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment and dedication. Your efforts are truly making a difference.

Let us continue to work together towards a society where everyone can live free from fear and discrimination.
