Based in Brighton, Healthlink is a local project supporting people aged 50 and over to attend vital health and wellbeing appointments, with the help of friendly, trained volunteers.
Health appointments are crucial for staying well – physically, mentally and emotionally. But we know that getting there, navigating the journey, or remembering everything you want to say can be stressful or overwhelming, especially alone.
Whether it’s a GP visit, hospital check-up, dentist appointment, or even a wellbeing group, Healthlink volunteers are here to offer support and encouragement
How we help
Our volunteers provide more than just a helping hand – they offer connection and care. Here’s what they can do:
- Meet the individual at home or a place of their choice
- Travel with them on foot, by bus, taxi or patient transport
- Wait outside during appointments or come in with them
- Help them remember what needs to be said and take notes
- Support them to feel confident and informed
We also have Digital Healthlink volunteers who can help inviduals learn how to access video appointments and online health resources, giving them even more ways to connect with healthcare professionals.
Please note: Healthlink is not a transport service. Users must be able to travel independently with support.
The impact we make
Healthlink is helping people stay on top of their health and well-being, avoid missed appointments, and feel less isolated. Volunteers are a vital link – offering reassurance, advocacy, and the confidence to take control of your own care.
