Knitting Group Volunteer (Glasgow)

RSVP knitting groups provide an opportunity for older people to be social and is also a opportunity for older people to still feel useful in retirement and give back to their community.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme encourages those aged 50+ to volunteer and stay active.  We are looking for older people in Glasgow who would like to knit items for charity and good causes. Each year, the RSVP knitting group donates thousands of knitted items to those in need, particularly to premature baby units in local NHS hospitals.

The group meet up usually on a quarterly basis, in Glasgow City Centre, in order to socialise, catch up, donate their knitted items and receive wool. The opportunity for social interaction has an overall positive effect for older people’s health and well-being.

  • Over 50 years of age and enjoy knitting
  • Resident in Glasgow.

As a volunteer you’ll receive:

  • The opportunity to use your knitting skills for a worthwhile cause
  • The opportunity to socialise with other knitters at our regular coffee mornings
  • Free wool and patterns
  • Knitting advice and suggestions.
