Winter can be a season of togetherness, warmth and celebration. But for many, it’s also a time when loneliness and isolation are felt more deeply.
At Volunteering Matters, we believe simple moments can make a big difference. A friendly phone call. A walk with someone who is feeling low. A lift to an appointment. These small acts of kindness are what our volunteers do every day, and they change lives.
This winter, your donation can help us create even more of these vital connections in communities across the UK. Whether you give once or choose to give monthly, your support means more people will feel less alone.

About your donation
Your donation will help connect people through befriending and mentoring, provide practical support like lifts and check-ins, and bring communities together through volunteer-led activities. If there’s a specific project close to your heart, you can choose to support it directly by letting us know when you make your gift.
What a donation can do
Every year, we support thousands of volunteers who give their time, skills, and enthusiasm across the UK. By partnering with and working in communities, we have empowered others to overcome adversity, tackled social isolation and loneliness, improved health and wellbeing, and supported people to develop skills and opportunities.
Any donation you give will go directly to supporting our community projects.
- £10 a month can help a lonely older person attend regular group activities in their community.
- £20 a month can help a care experienced young person attend regular mentoring sessions.
- £50 a month can help young volunteers deliver regular workshops on complex issues in schools.
