This year marks our 60th birthday! In April 1962 our first volunteer travelled from London to Glasgow to start our first ever volunteer placement.
Back then we were known as Community Service Volunteers (CSV). CSV was founded with a vision of a society where “everyone can participate and make their own individual contributions toward building strong and inclusive communities”.
We’ve come a long way since 1962. And it’s all thanks to every single volunteer, mentor, supporter and partner who has shaped the incredible change and impact volunteers can make over the last 60 years.
We think they deserve a celebration. And we want to raise some funds so more volunteers can lead change in their communities too.
So this year we’re celebrating the incredible work of our volunteers as part of our birthday year through #WeAre60, and we want everyone to get involved. And we also want to make sure we can keep working with communities to make positive change through volunteering and social action.
