Key Facts

  • Support parents progress towards education and employment
  • Weekly 1-1 support sessions with a parent for up to 6 months
  • Willingness to inspire others

This programme aims to assist lone parents, families with a disabled parent or child, families with three or more children, ethnically diverse families, and families with a youngest child under the age of one and parents under the age of 25, in the city of Edinburgh. The goal is to improve their quality of life and reduce vulnerabilities by matching them with volunteers who can help build resilience and aspirations towards employment.

Volunteer mentors support parents to understand their strengths, skills, and barriers to employment, putting steps or strategies in place to overcome these barriers or challenges.  Parents are supported with vocational activities including applications to higher education, developing CV’s, job search, applications, and mock interviews.

We also provide work-ready support – helping parents to access work placements.
