Key Facts

  • Running local across Warwickshire
  • Harnessing the power of volunteers to engage the community in healthy living

About the project

Health Champions Warwickshire is funded by Warwickshire County Council. Volunteering Matters will empower volunteers in the local community, connecting local volunteers with individuals and community groups in the area.

This approach to health and well-being recognises that health professionals don’t always have all the answers. If residents are empowered to identify areas for improvement in their communities, solutions can be reached by those directly affected.

Health Champion volunteers will use their local contacts, experience, understanding and enthusiasm to help people enjoy healthier lives, through:

Raising awareness of health and healthy choices Empowering and motivating people to get involved with healthy social activities in their community Collaborating with existing community groups or networks to meet local needs Signposting to relevant support and services

About Health Champion volunteering roles

We provide extensive training for our volunteers, covering mental health awareness and safeguarding delivered by Volunteering Matters Engagement Managers. Some volunteers will also have an opportunity to complete Royal Society for Public Health Level 2 qualification.

We are keen for volunteers to work with us alongside their communities, taking the lead in setting up preventative measures for healthy living and using their place in the local community to shape and influence the way volunteers can help others.
