Key Facts

  • Running in locations across the Midlands
  • Helping young people aged 17-19 with complex and life limiting illnesses and conditions

Futures Midlands enables young people aged 17-19 with complex life-limiting illnesses and conditions to recognise their skills and positively shape their futures. Through the volunteer mentor support we enable they will engage in skills development, volunteering, social action and work placements.

We work with young people, their families, schools and Acorns Hospice in their last year at school, connecting them with their communities and engaging them in activities outside of the school and/or hospice environment through this important transition period for any young person. Because we want the young people we work with to achieve and lead as normal a life as possible.

Project staff match volunteer mentors with a young person. The mentors provide support to enable a young person to take part in volunteering opportunities – building on their skills, enhancing their independence and enabling them to make informed choices about their next steps.
