Key Facts

  • Running in Ipswich, Suffolk
  • Supports disabled people to be active within their community and reach their potential

Our Choices programme in Suffolk offers day, evening or weekend activities support to adults with learning disabilities.

Choices Suffolk supports people to access their community and do the activities they are interested in whilst focusing on four key areas: life skills, health and wellbeing, independent living skills and community/social skills.  Beneficiaries are supported by a Support Volunteer to take part in activities they are interested in, for example, theatre trips, sporting activities, meals out, cinema visits and much more!

All beneficiary support is underpinned by a personal plan which they formulate based on the government’s 5 Ways to Wellbeing.  Individuals are supported to work on personal goals in the keys areas of healthy lifestyles & exercise, basic cooking skills, housekeeping skills, personal safety, becoming work ready, travel training, budgeting and social action or volunteering.

Regular review sessions with beneficiaries take place to reflect on progress made and the changing needs of their personal plan. The Support Volunteers benefit from the opportunity to make a real difference to the adults they support, making it possible for the beneficiaries to stay healthy, learn new skills, become more confident and gain independence.
