Beyond Transitions was a project based in Torfaen, South Wales, set up to support young disabled people through their transition into adulthood. The project provided opportunities for young people to volunteer in their community, supported by trained volunteer mentors. This supported volunteering model was designed to enable the young person to play a meaningful role in their local community, meet new people, develop their skills and grow in confidence.

A final outcome assessment from the Emotional Intelligence Survey (Nov 2015 – Nov 2016) found that 88% of young disabled people who participated in Beyond Transitions were positive about their goals for the future, compared with 25% at baseline. 87% of volunteers told us that they had learnt new skills, 92% made new friends and 100% said they would recommend Beyond Transitions to others.
