Using the power of sport, Behind Every Kick engages young people under 16 who are currently members of a team or sports club, both on and off the pitch.
The teams and clubs involved in the project train weekly and compete competitively at a local level. Off the pitch, Lane 4, a management consultancy that focus on people development, trains staff from the sports clubs to deliver personal and team development sessions.
Each young participant is offered a mentor to provide off the pitch support to help them explore their aspirations as they embark on their GCSEs and consider what they’d like to achieve in adult life.
Volunteering Matters is proud to have been part of this partnership, leading to Behind Every Kick achieving charity status. The BEK programme has the potential to grow from strength to strength, reaching more young people and supporting their transition into adulthood.
