Activ8 is a peer-led project that delivers bespoke and tailored activities to young people, aged 18 – 24 years, who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). Activ8 combines the benefits of peer-support, focused and relevant learning packages and quality opportunities to volunteer within a supportive community environment.
Activ8 engages with young people who are NEET to develop their skills, confidence and knowledge. This support helps them to progress into volunteering, education, employment or training.
Many young people living in disadvantaged areas feel that they have limited prospects, a problem often exacerbated by a lack of self-belief and aspiration. We offer peer-based support that helps young people to build self-belief and emotional resilience. Working with peers, who have experienced similar barriers, can help them find a stronger voice and make informed decisions, giving them greater control and building their confidence.
We offer opportunities for young people to develop employability skills and support them in their job search. We also offer opportunities for young people to gain accredited qualifications and access work-related learning.
Activ8 programme has been supported by the European Social Fund through Welsh Government Active Inclusion Fund, provided through WCVA and the Welsh Assembly Government.
