Ann and Lady the therapy dog

Animal lover Ann Cooper saw a picture of Husky cross Lady on Facebook and brought her to Wales as a therapy dog.

From a Romanian stray dogs home where she was on death row to becoming a strange bedfellow in West Wales, it’s fair to say Lady has had a massive change of fortune.

Within months of being rescued from an extermination row of a European stray dog centre, Lady has become the darling of residents in Carmarthenshire .

Those petting the lovable pooch as she tours homes as part of therapy dog sessions have no idea of the horrors of her past.

Lady, a Husky cross, was one of the lucky ones to have escaped from a pound in Constanta, Romania, where she was destined to be euthanised.

But when Ann Cooper, 56, saw Lady’s picture on a Facebook appeal by the Laika Fund for Street Dogs she just felt she had to do her bit for the puppy that was going to be put down.
