Grandmentors Bradford is unique to our traditional Grandmentors projects. Volunteers (aged 25+) will be matched to a young person who is out of employment, education or training to provide mentoring, guidance and skills development. Volunteers will be trained to mentor young people aged 16-24 years old who need a guiding hand and role model ultimately giving them the skills and self-belief to lead successful and independent lives.
Volunteers meet with a young person each week to boost their confidence and work towards goals, which are unique to each young person. Volunteers support where they can to help these young people find their feet and reach their full potential. All volunteers are given full support and training throughout their time on the project.
The project will be coordinated by a local Volunteer Manager who will recruit, train and match mentors with young people focusing in need of support.
The project has been funded by Bradford Council’s Bradford for Everyone programme and will be delivered by working in partnership with a range of local organisations; including Bradford Youth Service, the Youth Offending Team, Connexions Bradford, local colleges and employers.
