Volunteering Matters has appointed Paul Buddery as its new Director of Strategy.

Paul will begin work with us in February, and was most recently Deputy Director of Public Services at the RSA. He has been involved in public service delivery and strategy for over a decade, specialising in cross sector partnerships, and has also acted as a senior policy advisor to the Children’s Commissioner for England.  His recent publications include “People Shaped Localism” and “Volunteering and Public Services”.  His career began as a Full Time Volunteer with Volunteering Matters when it was known as Community Service Volunteers (CSV).

The Director of Strategy is a new role for us, and will build on our work leading volunteering in policy and practice across the UK.

Our Chief Executive, Oonagh Aitken said: “We are delighted to have Paul joining our Senior Leadership team. He brings a real expertise on the importance of volunteering and social action, especially within public services, and also demonstrable enthusiasm for our work and the power of volunteering.”

Paul Buddery added: “I couldn’t be happier about returning to the organisation that first ignited my passion for volunteering and social action.  I look forward to supporting Volunteering Matters’ work delivering high impact volunteering across the UK – and am ambitious for its potential to grow in the years ahead.”
