We are delighted to announce that Volunteering Matters has been shortlisted for the ‘Community Award’ category in the 2017 Charity Times Awards.

The Charity Times Awards continue to be the pre-eminent celebration of best practice in the UK charity and not-for-profit sector and we are enormously proud to have been recognised by the Charity Times Awards judges.

The Community Award recognises an individual or sector organisation that promotes social action by encouraging people to be more involved in their communities and we want to say a huge thank you to all of our volunteers who help transform the lives of others through the power of volunteering.

We firmly believe that high impact social action volunteer programmes can transform lives, to the benefit of the individuals we support, the volunteers we work with, and society as a whole and currently engage nearly 30,000 volunteers through 180 programmes.

Our focus on grassroots community-based work benefits vulnerable people across the UK and we are pleased to report that we have rigorously driven improvement in our programmes over the past year. As a result, not only have key projects and programmes been strengthened but a number have been replicated in other areas of the country.

This year’s winners will be announced at the Charity Times Awards on 4 October 2017 and we look forward to finding out the results!
