talent matters measduring the good csr employee volunteering

On 5th September we are launching ‘Talent Matters’ – a new skills-based individual volunteering programme. Talent Matters enables talented volunteers to share their professional skills with smaller charities on a one-to-one basis.

The programme will match each skilled professional with a senior staff member at a smaller charity that requires additional organisational support. The matching process will take into account the skills, interests and professional development needs of the volunteer, and the organisational needs of the charity. Volunteers can offer skills across a range of key areas, including law, finance, marketing and business administration.

Volunteers will commit to providing 20-30 hours of professional support to their charity partner over a three to four month period. This time commitment will enable the volunteer to make a tangible contribution to the charity, and build a valuable working relationship with the charity professional they are supporting. The process will be facilitated by Volunteering Matters staff from start to finish.

Bev Frain, Head of Employee Volunteering, said: “I’m delighted that we can now offer our Talent Matters programme to businesses looking to develop their staff and give something back to society. I really believe that Talent Matters has the potential to be a high impact volunteering programme with significant benefits for both parties.

Smaller charities will benefit greatly from consistent professional support, delivered over a 3-4 month period. The volunteers will gain from the opportunity to learn more about how small charities operate and make a meaningful contribution to society.”
