Our annual Golf Day fundraiser returns once more this week to Seckford Golf Club in Woodbridge, promising another fantastic day on and off the course.

All funds raised from the day go to help the fantastic work performed in the local community by Grandmentors Ipswich and Equip Mentoring. These two life-changing projects use mentorship to help young people reach their full potential and gain the opportunities they deserve, regardless of circumstance.

Run alongside CFB UK, the event has taken place over the last few years and has grown into an important date in the Suffolk calendar. We are privileged to have incredible sponsors such as Source One Consulting who throw their weight behind such excellent causes and allow us to raise money to keep mentorships going and help young people grow into their full potential.

Last year, the day raised over £5000 which went towards these fantastic projects and this year we hope to raise even more!

This year, we will be honoured to be joined by esteemed guests from the local community, and an international Rugby Union legend.

The day itself

In what’s beginning to become a sporting tradition for the local community, this year’s Golf Day will take place on Friday 10 September at Seckford Golf Club. Teams of four players will tee off in staggered ten minute intervals, for a bit of personal space and Covid safety compliance. This year, the event is sold out so with nearly 100 competitors, it’s sure to be a hotly contested spectacle.

On top of a round of golf, the day will be packed with fun, friends, and food. Breakfast sandwiches and an afternoon barbeque have been generously provided by some of our amazing sponsors, with events such as a Hole-in-one competition and a raffle happening throughout the day.

After a long day on the course, the winning players and teams will be crowned with a special ceremony off site once all the scores are tallied.

Par for the cause

All proceeds from the day will go directly into supporting Grandmentors Ipswich and Equip Mentoring, two of our fantastic mentoring programmes in Suffolk. These provide young people, including those leaving the care system, the opportunity to aspire to their best possible futures with the help and support of mentors.

These incredible volunteers use their experience and skills to support young people gain access to higher education, search for jobs, get valuable experience, and create new social and professional links. It’s about giving young people, especially those without the support systems that many take for granted, a chance to realise their full potential with the support and attention of someone who truly cares.

“Frances has definitely helped me get to university because she has been able to advocate and challenge decisions that I may not have done.” – Abraham, Grandmentors Ipswich

Guests of honour

As the attention around the annual Golf Day grows every year, we are delighted to welcome some esteemed guests from the local and international community. As well as our extremely generous sponsors and partners, this year we will be joined by Mayor of Ipswich, Elizabeth Hughes, and are thrilled to have her attendance and support for the great work being raised for.

We are also pleased to announce that World Cup winning rugby union star and legendary number 8 for the All-Blacks, Zinzan Brooke will be joining us for the special day. Zinzan will take part with the tournament, as well as hosting a Q&A session in the afternoon where he can answer questions and tell stories from his illustrious rugby career.

Sponsors and partners

The Golf Day is being organised by Grandmentor Karl Mallett and his team at CFB UK.

This event couldn’t go ahead without the support and backing from our host of partners and sponsors. Special thanks go to Source One Consulting, who are the main sponsors of the event and without whom we wouldn’t be able to grow the Golf Day to be as fun and effective as it is.

Thanks go out as well to our other sponsors, both corporate and private, for their generous help in giving young people a leg up to a brighter future – as well as providing a great day of golf!
