The national charity Volunteering Matters has launched a fantastic new project aimed at women with learning disabilities across Gwent. The SAFE (‘Sexual Awareness for Everyone’) project will help improve the personal safety and sexual health of young women (aged 16 to 35) with learning difficulties through peer led workshops and support, through the production and distribution of SAFE materials.

Launching in this year’s official Sexual Health Week, ‘SAFE’ has been funded by the government’s Tampon Tax fund for three years. The project is open to any female aged 16-35, but especially those who have a learning disability. Sianne Morgan, Youth Development Manager for Wales, said: “SAFE is a fantastic project that will empower young females to make positive and healthier choices about their lives and will provide the space and encouragement for them to reach their goals and ambitions.”

If you know of any young female who would like to be part of this great opportunity then please contact: – Sianne Morgan on 01495 750333, or email Sianne.morgan@volunteeringmatters.org.uk
