We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded £650,000 in funding from players of People’s Postcode Lottery to support our work in tackling loneliness and social isolation, and boosting the health and wellbeing of older people, across the UK.

Increasing numbers of older people are facing loneliness and poor health and wellbeing but this isn’t inevitable. By investing in volunteering we believe we can improve the quality of life for older and retired people.

From employability skills workshops to volunteer drivers taking people to hospital appointments, we support thousands of people over 50 to take a lead role in both setting up and participating in activities that improve the health and wellbeing of others in their community.

Clara Govier, Head of Charities at People’s Postcode Lottery, added: “The work of everyone involved at Volunteering Matters is so important. We are delighted that funding from players of People’s Postcode Lottery will continue to make such a positive impact to service users.”

Here are just some of the stories showcasing the amazing efforts of our volunteers over the past year, and thanks to funding from players of People’s Postcode Lottery, we look forward to sharing many more in the coming months!
