For the eighth consecutive year, in celebration of Discovery Communications’ annual ‘Discover Your Impact Day’, our Employee Volunteering team arranged 23 one-off team volunteering projects across London for 500 employees to make an impact in their community.

From fixing up bikes to get refugees cycling at The Bike Project, to taking Thomas Pocklington Trust’s service users with visual impairments on a bowling trip; from sprucing up Clapham Common to running an Athletics World Championship event including the welly toss with Lambeth Mencap service users, there was a volunteering opportunity to suit the interests of Discovery employees and to meet the needs of the community partners.

Bev Frain, Head of Employee Volunteering at Volunteering Matters, said: “We were so pleased to be a part of ‘Discover Your Impact’ day for the eighth year running. It’s a fantastic example of how employee volunteers can make a difference in their community through a single day event.”
