historic full time volunteer photo support disabled people

In 1962 we placed a  volunteer in Glasgow, supporting young people in need.  He became our first Full-Time Volunteer (known as Community Service Volunteer in those days) and a movement began. Full-time volunteering is now a unique opportunity for people aged between 18 and 35 to undertake the challenge of living away from home for 6-12 months whilst supporting people and communities.

We’ve now been placing young people at the heart of communities for over 50 years, changing their lives and those of the people they support.  This year we want to tell the stories of our Full Time Volunteers from the last five decades. How did full time volunteering impact their lives? What did they go on to do because of their experience?  What would they tell the next generation?

If you were a Full Time Volunteer / CSV with us, please get in touch – we would love to hear from you and also  tell you about our exciting plans for the programme ahead.
