Volunteering Matters, our volunteers, staff and programmes regularly feature in the national and regional media.
For #GivingTuesday we are running a fundraising campaign called ‘Change for Change’ – by giving something up for a short while – life coffee or wine – and donating the spare change to our youth social action volunteering, you will support our young volunteers to make the changes they need in their communities. We’re pleased to announce that with the help of our volunteers we have recruited Paul Reddish as our new Chief Executive, who joins us from ProjectScotland. Volunteering Matters was quoted in article on Anchor’s website about the key to a happy retirement. The exhibition by volunteers from the Perspectives Project featured on BBC Radio Suffolk, the East Anglian Daily Times and the Ipswich Star! Our Director of Strategy Paul Buddery in this month’s Children and Young People Now discussing how local authorities can make the most of volunteer mentor programmes for those on child protection or child in need plans ITV News Anglia featured our Grandmentors Milton Keynes event in partnership with MK Community Fridge, where volunteers met mentees for the first time! Volunteering Matters are one of a number of organisations united in asking the Prime Minister to back a Full-Time Social Action Programme Pilot. Grandmentor Darren and mentee Cole were featured on BBC Radio Suffolk to promote our Grandmentors project and encourage more people to volunteer. On the day that Royal Voluntary Service announced a partnership with Help Force to double the number of volunteers in the NHS by 2021, BBC Radio London dedicated the first hour of their Drivetime show to discussing volunteering. Former Full-Time Volunteer, Jess, was interviewed by the Daily Mirror last month about how her volunteering role led to her dream job. Previously unsure about the route she wanted to pursue with her career, Jess tuned to volunteering to to discover more about her likes and dislikes.
