About the role

Volunteering Matters are seeking an organised, flexible and pro-active Volunteer Manager to support our varied projects in Birmingham and across the Wales, South West and Midlands region.

The role will primarily support 2 programmes:

You will represent our Full Time Volunteering Programme across the region; recruiting and supporting volunteers aged 18-35. Full Time Volunteering engages young volunteers from across the world to undertake transformative volunteering roles within communities across the region for up to 12 months, 35 hours a week. You will work as part of a national network of Volunteer Managers and be responsible for your own varied caseload, managing the relationship with placement partners across the region.

You will set up and run our new Sporting Chance project in Birmingham. Sporting Chance will engage ex-servicemen aged 50+ in physical activities to improve their health and wellbeing, increase socialisation and inclusion and decrease isolation. You will recruit and support participants and work with agencies across the city.
You will be enthusiastic and self-motivated, with excellent team-working, communication and record keeping skills. No two days are the same at Volunteering Matters, meaning you will need a diplomatic and open-minded approach to daily challenges. The role will suit someone with good experience of volunteer management and pastoral support.

Appointment to this position is subject to an enhanced disclosure check (DBS). Having a conviction will not necessarily cause a bar to employment.

In return for your commitment we offer 25 days holiday per year (FTE) plus discretionary festive leave + public holidays. We also offer a 3% employer pension contribution, flexible working opportunities and enhanced employee benefits.

To apply, please send your CV, supporting statement & recruitment monitoring form to Andrew Balfour, join@volunteeringmatters.org.uk

Your supporting statement is of equal importance to us as your CV and is a key part of our shortlisting process. It is an opportunity for you to outline your experience and credentials directly to the details of the post.

Volunteering Matters is committed to the provision of equal opportunities in employment and accordingly wishes to ensure that no job applicant is treated less favourably on unjustifiable grounds. To assist in the monitoring of our performance in relation to equal opportunities you are requested to complete the enclosed monitoring form. The questionnaire is for statistical purposes only. Upon receipt it will be separated from your CV and cover letter and will not form part of the selection process.

Please note: Due to the volume of applications we receive if we have not contacted you by the interview date it means that on this occasion we are unable to take your application further.
